Little Mermaid

A fairy tale that ended without a note-
“And they lived happily ever after”
A fairy-princess of unrequited love,
Vanished in the air without a rescue!
She lost her scherzo,
She lost her charisma,
She lost her vocal-chord,
For worthless legs and form!
She left her accustomed aquatic,
She left her amiable amigos,
She left her sacrificial siblings,
For the arid lone and land!
The self-filled buoyancy,
The heart-filled contentment,
The mind-filled curiosity,
The face-filled sparkling,
The throat-filled symphonies,
All she had by nature,
Before she met the prince,
Never come back…
Why didn’t she find another prince of her kind?
Why didn’t she fall in love one more time?
Why didn’t she get back to her true form?
Why did she end up as an-
Unsatisfied love,
Unspoken passion,
Unresolved pathos,
Unexpressed rhapsody,
And unbearable tragedy?

True love is rarely reciprocated,
And the fairy is not an exception,
To face the failures of reality
The little mermaid is adorned
With a tragic beauty forever
That leaves a never-ending quest
For a happy-ending.
The world wouldn’t be
This interesting without the monuments
 Of mourning souls.
Shelley rightly worded,
“Our sweetest songs are those that tell of the saddest thought.”
Tragedy is the muse
For the most beautiful ever enduring art!
